With the dominance of Texas Hold’em, it is easy to forget the world of poker is vast. There are countless variants of this popular title, each one bringing something a little different to the mix. Ride’em Poker is Rival’s version of the popular Let it Ride poker game. The visuals are somewhat plain, which is to be expected given how old this title is. However, that does not stop it from delivering a fantastic poker experience.
The RTP for this release is 97.04%, with slight variations up or down depending on your luck. The title is a rather focused experience, and does not offer any side bets that could distract players. The focus is firmly on Let it Ride poker gameplay.
Before you can start playing, you need to set up your wagers first. Rival’s Ride’em Poker is a mandatory multi-bet experience. You have to stake on all three positions at once in order to play this game. Pick one of the three available coins to place them on the betting field. Clicking a betting field will remove one coin. Use this to control how much you wager each turn. When you are happy with your bet, press the Deal button.
At that point, the computer draws three player cards and two community cards. The three player cards are immediately visible, while community cards are hidden away. At this point, players have the option to keep playing or to pull one of their wagers out. You can use the pull out option if the first three cards you received do not seem promising. Alternatively, you can decide to risk it and keep playing.
Regardless of what you decide to do, the fourth card will be revealed. You are then faced with the same decision before the fifth card is flipped. At that point, all five cards are revealed. If they form a valid poker hand, you will receive a cash prize. The reward you receive is proportional to how many wagers you have left. If you pulled out two times, you will only get the payout for one bet. It all comes down to how risky you want to play.
There are no side bets available in this Rival release. While having the option would be nice, we did not mind the absence of bonuses too much. It allowed us to focus on this Let it Ride poker variant and its fun gameplay without any distractions.
How much you win is purely determined by the value of your poker hand. The gameplay loop is all about recognising a good hand forming when you see it. Keep in mind that you need at least tens or better to get any type of prize. Valid hands and their payouts are listed below.
Despite its age, this Rival game has held up magnificently. The core gameplay loop remains just as solid as it did when this title first launched. If you enjoy poker but feel a bit burned out on Texas Hold’em, you should try this release. It feels just similar enough to be recognisable, but has enough differences to be a distinct experience of its own. Definitely check it out when you have the time!
