HOW TO PLAY JELLYCIOUS DOUBLEMAX
Most of your time with this game will be spent in the base game. Now, it’s not exactly a classic fruit machine, but the game still treads on some familiar ground when compared to most other modern online slots.
It’s played on a 5×3 grid displaying symbols largely in the form of biscuits and jelly beans. To win, you need to match 3 or more symbols on an uninterrupted line of 3 or more reels. As usual, all winning combinations have to start at the leftmost reel. Of course, any additional symbols of the same kind that fit into the winning combination will increase the overall payout.
The fact that the game has no fixed paylines means that there are 243 different ways to win.
Initially, the game starts off slow with a moderately low hit rate and fairly low base payouts. We’ll cover those in more detail in the next section of this review. However, Jellycious Doublemax really comes into its own once you hit your first winning line. That’s when the tumbling symbols and win multipliers start to kick in.
TUMBLING SYMBOLS AND MULTIPLIERS
Tumbling symbols, otherwise known as reel cascades, is a mechanic that many experienced online slot players are familiar with.
Every time you hit a winning combination, all of the winning symbols are removed from the game table. Symbols directly above them on the same reel tumble down into the positions of the symbols that were just removed. Basically, all of the above symbols fall down in a cascading motion as new symbols appear form the top of the screen.
This creates a new situation on the table, allowing you to win again in the same round. In fact, this can happen multiple times in a row, allowing players to string together a lot of wins if they’re lucky.
Now, in Jellycious Doublemax, two additional features kick in whenever cascades happen:
- Wild symbols appear in one of the winning positions. This gives you a better chance to win after the cascade triggers.
- A win multiplier kicks in after the first cascade, increasing any future payouts in the same round. This multiplier is then doubled for every subsequent win, but resets back to 1x for the next spin if there are no more wins in that round. For example, any wins after the first cascade are increased by 2x. The next win is increased by 4x, then 8x, and so on. There is no maximum multiplier, but you can’t win more than 25,000 times your stake in a single round.
Free Spins
You can win free spins by hitting 3 or more Scatter symbols in a single spin. Scatters can win anywhere on the board, so their position doesn’t matter.
Hitting 3, 4, or 5 scatters awards you with 7, 9, or 11 free spins, respectively. You cannot re-trigger free spins in this game.
That’s not all that many. However, the win multipliers we described stick around for as long as you have free spins. They also affect any payouts, obviously.
This can result in some fairly massive multipliers thanks to the magic of exponential growth.
Feature Buy and Golden Bet
If you don’t want to sit around and hope you’ll luck out on the free spins, there are two ways you can turn things in your favour.
First, you can turn on the Golden Bet by clicking or tapping the button in the bottom right. This adds a 20% fee to all your bets and doubles the chance you’ll win free spins.
Additionally, you have a more standard form of Feature Buy. This allows you to just pay a flat amount to trigger the free spins instantly. There are three options:

- Buy 9 free spins for 200x the stake
- Buy 11 free spins for 300x the stake
