HOW TO PLAY BLOOD AND SHADOW 2
The base game offers a straightforward 5×4 game board with a solid hit chance. Blood and Shadows 2 features no fixed paylines, so you only need to hit symbols on 3 or more adjacent reels to get a payout. All combinations still have to start at the leftmost reel, but you can increase your rewards simply by hitting additional symbols on the same reels.
Some of the special features of this slot machine allow you to expand the board and thus unlock additional ways to win. More on that later.
For now, we’ll note that this game isn’t just volatile. It’s extremely volatile, outdoing most slots you’ll likely come across. That’s not strictly a bad thing, but you should still keep it in mind before playing.
Ritual Bar
The big defining element of the Blood and Shadow slot games is the Ritual bar. You can see it below the reels at all times.
The bar fills up any time you hit winning combinations with medium or high-paying symbols, or whenever you land a Scatter anywhere on the board. Of course, it resets back to its starting position on every spin, so all of its effects are contained to a single round.
A medium-paying symbol adds +1 to the barm, high-paying ones move it by +2, and Scatters progress it by no less than +10. Once it fills up, it removes the lowest-paying symbols from the grid and replaces them with medium- and high-paying alternatives.
You can trigger this effect multiple times per round. However, it takes more points to fill up the bar every time after the first. To progress fully you’ll need to unlock the following levels: Level 1 – 20 points, Level 2 – 30 points, Level 3 – 40 points, Level 4 – 60 points, and Level 5 – 80 points.
Candle Spins & Sticky Wild
Reaching a new level on the Ritual Bar awards +2 Candle Spins. Alternatively, you get +6 free spins when moving to Reign of Terror Spins.
During Candle spins, the Ritual Bar functions the same as in the main game. During Candle Spin/Reign of Terror Spins, wild symbols drop down to the bottom of the reel and become sticky wilds until part of a winning combination or a new bet is made.
xSplit
Two types of xSplit symbols may land at any point in the base game or the free spins..
The Dagger xSplit splits the row it appears in, while the Guillotine xSplit splits all symbols on its reel. xSplit symbols always appear with an x2 multiplier on them.
Symbols split by an xSplit get the respective multiplier, increasing any payouts they’re a part of. Additionally, both Dagger and Guillotine turn wild after a split. The multiplier value reflects the count of the symbol on that reel. The maximum symbol size can be x32.
Besides the multipliers and whatnot, xSplit symbols increase your base rewards and chances to win by practically expanding the game board.
- Halifax Gibbet Spins – Buying Halifax Gibbet Spins progresses the Ritual Bar to level 3 and awards 6 Candle Spins. In this feature, 3 random low- or medium-pay symbols are replaced by 3 high-pay symbols.
- Reign of Terror Spins – A total of 6 free spins are awarded when entering the Reign of Terror Spins – after any wins have been completed. The Ritual Bar is removed, and the grid becomes 5×5 in size, landing only high pay symbols. Landing a scatter awards +1 free spin. Buying Reign of Terror grants 10 free spins.
