Evolution Gaming’s First Person Blackjack is a live casino game that offers you the experience of an RNG-powered table. The game follows standard blackjack rules: the same one used in live blackjack games by the same developer. All gameplay is handled using a computer, and you can quickly swap to the live version with the press of a button. The visuals are fantastic, as we have come to expect from Evolution Gaming. Our favourite is hands down the animations, which are some of the best the studio has produced.
You can play up to five positions at the same time in First Person Blackjack. The RTP for this release is 99.29%, assuming you perfectly follow a basic blackjack strategy. The dealer stands on all seventeens, both hard and soft. You are offered an insurance bet if the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace. Players have access to two side bets. The first is Perfect Pairs, which rewards you for getting a pair as your first two cards. The second is 21+3. It pays if you form a valid three-card poker hand with the dealer upcard.
When you first boot up the game, you will see available coin values seated on the wooden part of the table. Pick a value that suits you best and place it on a wager you want to play. As we mentioned previously, you can play five independent hands at the same time. There is no timer, so feel free to take your time setting up your bets. You can only play side bets if you already wagered on the main bet first.
After bets are sorted, both the player and dealer are dealt two cards. One of the dealer’s cards is visible, while the other is in a face-down position. You can choose to hit, stand, double down or split. There are no restrictions on doubling down, but splitting can only be done if you have a pair of cards. You can split once per hand, and cannot double after splitting. If you split an Ace, you only get one card.
With your choice made, the round proceeds. At this point, the computer reveals the face-down card and compares the values of the two hands. The hand closest to 21 will win the round. Be careful not to go over 21, or you will automatically lose the round in a bust. If a tie happens, it will result in a push. Instead of losing or winning, you just get your money back.
For Perfect Pairs, you have to get the best possible pair as your first two cards. Just getting a pair where nothing matches will earn you a 6:1 reward. If two cards have the same colour but a different suit, they pay 12:1. Finally, a perfect pair where both the colour and suit match is worth 25:1!
21+3 forms a three-card poker hand with your first two drawn cards and the dealer up card. How much you earn depends on the strength of the poker hand. You earn 5:1 for a flush, 10:1 for a straight, 30:1 for a three of a kind, 40:1 for a straight flush and 100:1 for suited trips.
If you are gunning for a big win, you will have to play one of the two side bets. First Person Blackjack retains the same payouts you see on other blackjack tables. All wins with the exception of blackjack pay the standard 1:1 reward. Meanwhile, blackjack wins score a 3:2 reward. Finally, Insurance bets grant you a 2:1 payout if you correctly call it. Given the low chances of winning, we advise against playing Insurance.
For a software provider with no experience with RNG-powered tables, Evolution Gaming has done a great job delivering on a similar enough experience. We cannot think of a better table to enjoy a few rounds of blackjack on. If playing by yourself ever gets boring, you can easily swap to a live dealer version and continue the fun there!
