INTRODUCTION

Deuces Wild is a variant of online 5-card poker. It uses conventional poker rules most of the time, but the payout rate has been adjusted slightly. Moreover, all Deuces in the game work as Wilds. We’ll cover how that works – and much more – in this iSoftBet Deuces Wild poker review.

For now, we’ll note that this is is a relatively simple game powered by random number generation (RNG). Unlike live dealer casino games, there are no actual cards involved. Instead, all outcomes are determined by computer calculations (to put it simply.) On one hand, this means that the game is fair, all of the time. This fact is verified by licensing authorities. On the other hand, it doesn’t feel “authentic”. The rules are all the same, but some players prefer playing with actual cards.

HOW TO PLAY DEUCES WILD POKER

The rules of Deuces Wild poker are relatively simple for anyone who has any experience with online poker.

First of all, you should select the size of your bet. Use the leftmost buttons to set the value of a single coin. Then, click on the “coins” button to choose the number of coins per bet. Our suggestion is to always use 5 coins and to decrease their value if you want a smaller stake.

Click deal once you’re ready. You’ll receive 5 cards from a standard deck of 52 cards. As always, the goal is to get the strongest hand possible.

You can then choose to “mulligan” as many cards as you want. Just click on any cards you wish to retain, and click ‘deal’ again. Any cards not selected after the first deal will be replaced by new ones from the deck.

Deuces Wild poker ranks card hands as usual, but you have to get at least a three-of-a-kind for a payout. Additionally, the wild card mechanics introduces some new possibilities, such as five of a kind. We’ll explain how the Wilds work in the Features part of this Deuces Wild poker review.

Casino Bloke Best tips for Deuces Wild Poker

  • 1Always play with all five coins per bet. Winning with five coins comes with a bonus to some payouts so it has a higher RTP of about 1.5%.
  • 2Always hold a pair or better. Trying to go for a Straight or Flush, however, is best done with at least 3 cards.
  • 3Needless to say, always hold on to Deuces (cards with a value of 2 of any suit.)
  • 4If you already have a viable hand after the first deal, the game will automatically hold all of the relevant cards.

EXTRA FEATURES

The one thing that sets Deuces Wild video poker apart from any other version are the wild deuces. Essentially, a deuce (a 2 card) can replace any other card and be used to make hands.

For example, say you have two Jacks. In normal circumstances, that doesn’t give a payout in Deuces Wild poker. However, if you have two Jacks and a Deuce of any suit, your hand will count as a Three of a Kind of Jacks.

In most cases, it doesn’t matter whether the hand is formed using a Deuce or a regular card. The only exception is a Royal Flush. A “natural” flush royal (a flush royal with no Wild deuces made on the first deal) pays significantly more than one that relies on Wilds. That’s the only scenario in which it matters, though.

Below, you’ll find the complete hand rankings in Deuces Wild poker. The table also shows possible payouts based on how many coins you used.

Hand 1 Coin 2 Coins 3 Coins 4 Coins 5 Coins
Natural Royal Flush 250x 500x 750x 1,000x 4,000x
Four Deuces 200x 400x 600x 800x 1,000x
Wild Royal Flush 25x 50x 75x 100x 125x

what we like

what we don’t like

  • Looks basic and outdated
  • High volatility compared to other video poker is not for everyone

DEUCES WILD (ISOFTBET): CASINO BLOKE’S VERDICT

Deuces Wild is a great video poker variant for anyone looking for an existing, volatile type of game. The Wild mechanics add a whole new dimension to the game by allowing you to go for riskier plays and less likely combinations.

Of course, the volatility might throw some off. Namely, you won’t win as much as with some other video poker variations. Three of a Kind is a relatively common hand in this game, but it merely pays even money.

Additionally, we have to note that the game could have been visually a bit more interesting considering the 2022 release date. As it is, it’s fairly simplistic – it gets the job done, but that’s pretty much it.

All in all, we would definitely recommend iSoftBet Deuces Wild poker to any fan of video poker. It’s classic enough to be familiar but interesting enough to engage even veteran players
