HOW TO PLAY ROYAL NUTS
Royal Nuts is played on a diamond-shaped grid with five reels. The layout of the reels is somewhat atypical 3-4-5-4-3, meaning the middle reels have more positions than the first or last ones. In practice, this doesn’t affect the gameplay too much, except for the fact that the first reel occasionally becomes a point of frustration. It’s arguably the most important reel when it comes to determining whether you’ll get a winning line or not.
Beyond that, the game plays pretty much like every online slot machine ever released. You need to hit 3 or more matching symbols along one of the game’s 36 paylines. The hit rate is relatively low compared to other medium-volatility slots, but it has a few tricks up its sleeve that often turn small wins into bigger ones.
Golden Wilds
This game puts its Wild symbols front and centre. They’re tied to most of its special features and are crucial for getting decent payouts from the Royal Nuts.
As always, the Wilds can substitute for regular symbols to get winning lines. In this game, you can also make lines entirely out of wilds, in which case they’re the game’s best-paying symbols.
There are three types of wilds in Royal Nuts, each one represented by a different member of the Royal Nut family. Observant players will also notice that the game’s high-paying symbols are represented by the same characters. That’s because Wilds in this game do not appear “naturally”. Instead, high pays can randomly be turned into Wilds during any spin. Whenever that happens, the affected symbols turn golden, so you won’t miss it happening.
This can happen in one of three ways.
- When the Regular Wild is activated, all instances of one type of high-paying symbol turn into wilds.
- When the Stacked Wild is activated, all instances of one type of high-paying symbol turn into Wilds. Additionally, symbols above and below the affected symbol are also turned into Wilds.
- When the Expanding Wild is activated, all instances of one type of high-paying symbol turn into Wilds. Additionally, all symbols on the Wilds’ respective reels are also turned into Wilds.
As you can see, not all Golden Wilds are equally powerful. Expanding Wilds are considerably more useful than Regular ones. However, any type of high-paying symbol can be turned into any of the above Wilds. It’s just a matter of luck.
Royal Nuts Free Spins
Hitting 3, 4, or 5 Scatter symbols anywhere on the grid awards the player 10, 15, or 20 Free Spins respectively. Free Spins cannot be retriggrered, so you’re stuck with the initial number.
Golden Wilds can appear randomly during free spins, just like in the base game. However, they can also be created by collecting gem symbols.
During this game mode, blue, green, red, and white gems may appear on the reels. Any appearing gems are collected to the side of the screens. Once you collect 2 gems of the same kind, the symbols with the corresponding colour are randomly turned into one type of Wild. For example, two red gems will turn red high pays into Wilds. White gems are collected into all three high pays.
