HOW TO PLAY TEMPLE OF RA
The game is played on a large 6×5 grid with a total of 30 positions. As noted above, these are not really reels – just rows and columns containing symbols. Again, there are no paylines either, which makes for a relatively unusual slot machine.
Instead of trying to hit symbols on adjacent reels, you’re only trying to hit symbols of the same kind anywhere on the board. If 8 symbols of the same kind appear anywhere on the board, you get a payout depending on the symbol’s value. The more symbols you hit in a single spin, the more you win. It takes some getting used to if you’ve only ever played classic slots, but it’s an interesting variation.
On top of this unusual system, Temple of Ra by Endorpgina also uses tumbling reels. This means any winning symbols are removed from the board, and the symbols above them tumble down into their position. Any symbols at the top of the grid are replaced by fresh symbols that fall down from above the reels. These new positions can form new winning combinations, causing more symbols to tumble down, and so on until no more wins are possible.
Multipliers
They can land anywhere on the table and display a multiplier value of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, or 500x. The bigger values are less common, as you might expect.
Multipliers activate at the end of a cascade and multiply any winnings by the displayed amount. They produce no further tumbling, but all winnings accumulated from all winning combinations in that round get multiplied. If two or more multiplier symbols are present, their values are added together before multiplying winnings. They also provide additional bonuses during free spins, which we’ll explain below.
Bonus Round
The Temple of Ra slot bonus round is tied to the symbol that looks like Ra himself.
Hitting 3 Bonus symbols grants the player 5 free spins. In this case, these are just straight free respins. You get 5, and then the game goes back to normal.
If you hit 4 or more, however, you also get the multiplier accumulator feature. In addition to their standard bonus, every multiplier hit during free spins adds to a running counter you can see at the top left. Every multiplier that boosts a winning combination adds its value to the counter. These values are accumulated and last until the bonus round ends. This results in multipliers that progressively increase as the bonus round lasts, resulting in potentially massive returns.
